What is biofeedback pelvic floor therapy?

Have you ever wanted to know if you are doing a Kegel correctly? While keeping your clothes on?  Biofeedback works like a mirror to show you how your pelvic floor muscles are able to contract and relax.

Working like two detectives solving a case, you and your therapist see in real time how to retrain your pelvic floor.

Biofeedback, combined with skilled exercise and pelvic floor therapy, has been shown to be an effective treatment for incontinence and other pelvic floor dysfunctions.

  • "As a health provider in the TriCities area, I wholeheartedly recommend Karissa Dowling for occupational therapy services. She brings expertise in pelvic health, professionalism, and a compassionate presence to her work with each client. I trust that those I refer to Pelvic Health & Healing receive exceptional OT care and experience increased wellbeing."

    —Tiffany McCaughey PhD

  • "I recently took a class hosted by Karissa and I was incredibly impressed. Her class focused on pelvic health and healing. She brings a depth of knowledge that is both evidence-based and compassionate. She explains complex information in a way that feels approachable and empowering. As women, we are not taught enough about our own bodies. It is time to stop thinking our pelvic floor as taboo or sensitive topic. Just because we have experiences that may seem normal after having children or taking medication doesn't mean it is. I strongly suggest to have a phone consultation to start and go from there. You can tell immediately that she truly cares about improving quality of life for her clients. I highly recommend her services to anyone looking for specialized, professional care in this area."

    —Beth Conley

  • "I should have made an appointment sooner. Karissa at Pelvic Health and Healing made the intake process seamless and thorough. I enjoyed being able to fill out intake forms [securely] online. I had been living with things like bladder urgency, high frequency bowel movements, and painful / stiff SI joints for so long, that I didn't realize how far my baseline functioning had drifted from normal. I am well into the therapy program that was designed around my symptoms and I simply didn't know I could feel this good. Bladder urgency is greatly reduced and bowel functioning is approaching a more normal range. I also like that her approach includes mindfulness exercises which have been enjoyable and effective at calming my nervous system while building routines that promotes healthier vagus nerve functioning. I tried so many mobility routines to help with SI tension in the past, but they didn't work. I am ecstatic to report that the exercises Karissa guided me through have relieved so much SI joint stiffness that I am able to move more freely which is incredibly invigorating. It has me seeking more opportunities to move. Several people in the sport that I do have asked what I changed because I am moving so much better. Lastly, Karissa is especially gifted at explaining things in such a way that I have a new lens from which I can view things that relate to pelvic health. I highly recommend."
